CARROLL F. BOLEN

   Carroll F. Bolen, 78 of Liberty, Illinois, formerly of Quincy, died at 6:24 a.m. Friday (November 24, 2017) in his home

   Born January 11, 1939 in Karnak, Illinois, Carroll was the son of Ernest and Linnie May Taylor Bolen. Carroll first married Carol Laverne Donaldson. He married Diana J. Lock on June 6, 1983 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2001. Carroll and his companion Maxine Clement later made a home together in Quincy for over 14 years. She survives.

   Carroll served his country in the U. S. Army. He was closely tied with the Friends of the Bill Community.

   Carroll loved and cared for pets, especially dogs, and enjoyed fishing and working on classic cars.  
He was employed as a cab driver in Aurora and Quincy for over 20 years  until his retirement in 2001.

   Survivors include two daughters, Robin Tittsworth (Tim) of Liberty, IL and Dawn Hatfield of Pacific, MO; four sons, Ernest Wayne Bolen (Robine) of Beardstown, IL, Robert Bolen (Diane Schum) of Quincy, David Bolen of Union, MO and William Bolen of Quincy; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Joann Griffey of Metropolis, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special niece Judy Smith (Scott) of Metropolis.

   Mr. Bolen was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Carol Laverne Bolen., his second wife, Diana; a son, Charles Bolen; a daughter Brenda Kay Bolen a brother, William Harold Bolen; two sisters in infancy; and a brother in law, Alfred Griffey.

   Graveside services with Military Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be held Monday morning at 11:15 in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be  Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.

   Memorials may be made to the ASPCA or to the family.
