CAROL  J.  HANIE

   Carol J. Hanie, 74, of Quincy, died at 1:22 a.m. Tuesday (December 12, 2017) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born September 27, 1943 in Quincy, Carol was the daughter of Harold and Reva Evans Heins. She was married to Richard Schwartz.  She later married Kenneth Hanie Sr. on September 25, 1994 in Springfield, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on August 2, 2017.

   Carol enjoyed cooking and baking, watching Wheel of Fortune, Nascar and NHRA Drag Racing, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and taking care of  Maggie Sue, her pet dog.

   Carol was employed in the Bakery and Deli at the Hannibal County Market until her retirement.

    Survivors include two children, James Schwartz of Quincy and Amy Leanne Schwartz of Quincy;  two grandchildren, Sierra Schwartz of Maywood, MO and Brooke Turnbaugh of Quincy; seven step children, Phillip Meany of Ewing, MO, Kevin Meany (Sandy) of Maywood, MO, Toni Foglesong (Gary) of Taylor, MO, Kenneth Hanie Jr. of Maywood, MO, Barbara Hanie (Joseph Leffler) of Clayton, IL, Colt Hanie of Kirksville, MO and Libertie Brantner (Michael) of Kirksville, MO; many loving step granchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Julie Damon (Tom) of Quincy; three brothers, Melvin Heins (Barb) of LaBelle, MO, Glenn "Chub" Heins (Marilyn) of Camp Point, IL and Gene Heins (Marilyn) of Pittsfield, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth;  a step daughter, Echo Leanne Welte; a step grandson, Danny Charles "Blain" Welte Jr.; and a brother, Evan Heins.

   Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home


   Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
