GERALD W. HARNESS

   Gerald W. Harness, 80, of Quincy passed away at 2:05 pm Thursday (December 21, 2017) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born November 29, 1937 in Quincy.  Gerald was the son of Hugh Carlton and Bernice Augustine Seagraves Harness.

   Gerald served his country in the Army from 1959 until 1962.  His favorite hobbies were fishing, reading,especially his bible, traveling and listening to music.  He was a former member of Faith Assembly of God and most recently he had been attending All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home.

   Mr. Harness was employed as a forman at Tuscora Plastics in Quincy for 25 years and then later was employed in the jewelry repair business with his brother Gary  in the Quad Cities for 16 years until his retirement.

   Survivors include three brothers Hugh "Phillie" Harness (Sue) of Quincy, Dennis Harness (Barbara) of Bettendorf, IA, Gary Harness (Cindy) of Moline, IL; his companion of many years Jeannie Griffith of Quincy; also surviving are the nieces and nephews Roy (Pam) Harness, Ron (Stacey) Harness, Donnie (Amy) Harness, Scott ( Leifje ) Peterson, Teri (James) Mosby, Kathy (Bill) Glascock, Audrey Campbell, Darrell Joe Harness, Brian Harness and Kevin (Emily) Harness.

   Mr. Harness was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Ronald, Donald, Darrell and Kenneth Harness and a sister Patricia Peterson.

  Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. V. Lee Amsler officiating. Burial with Miltary Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be in New  Providence Cemetery near Ursa.

   Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund.
