   Dr. Carl T. "Doc" Armstrong, Jr., 82, of Quincy died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday (December 2, 2014) in the Illinois Veteran's Home.

   Born January 14, 1932 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, Carl was the son of Carl and Roxie Carter Armstrong.  He married Carol J. Requet on June 5, 1964, in Quincy, Illinois.

   Dr. Armstrong served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, serving in 32 countries and 4 continents as an aerial photographer.  

   A graduate of Hinckley Illinois High School, Carl continued his education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and graduated from the University of Illinois with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He was a member of the Lambert Masonic Lodge No. 659, the Quincy Consistory, Past President of Quincy High Twelve Club No. 40, Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield, Quincy Shrine Club and a Charter Member of the Quincy Shrine Belgian Hitch.  Carl was also a member of the Elks Lodge No. 100,  Quincy Exchange Club, the Illinois Ridge Riders and the Illinois State Veterinary Association. Carl was an avid Quincy Blue Devil Basketball fan and enjoyed traveling and riding horses, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

   Dr. Armstrong was a well-respected and loving veterinarian with the Armstrong-Reich Veterinary Clinic from 1961 until his retirement in 1997.

   Survivors include his wife, Carol; one son, Todd Armstrong (Sarah) of Houston, TX; two daughters, Karen Skinner of Quincy and Kathy Venvertloh (Jim) of Naples, FL; six grandchildren, Nathan Skinner, Natalie Skinner, Riley Venvertloh, Rhegan Venvertloh, Avery Armstrong and Alison Armstrong; one brother, Joseph Armstrong (Mary) of Fowler, IL; one sister, Jean Jacobson of Hinckley, IL; and several loving nieces and nephews.

   Dr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Brian.

   Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Don Blickhan.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard at the funeral Home.

   Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.  Lambert Masonic Lodge No. 659 will conduct Masonic Services Thursday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
