IRENE  C.  HALPIN

   Irene C. Halpin, 86, of Pleasant View in Hannibal, Missouri, formerly of Quincy, died at 10:54 a.m. Wednesday (September 28, 2016) in her home.

   Born November 4, 1929 in Ottumwa, Iowa, Irene was the daughter of John and Myrtle Erbacher LaPoint. She married Dale E. Halpin on January 14, 1951 in the First Congregational Church in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He survives.

   Irene was a member of Madison Park Christian Church where she was active with the EverReady Class and Friendship Circle.  Irene loved to help others by volunteering at Blessing Hospital and was instrumental in organizing funeral dinners for many years at Madison Park Christian Church. She was a member of R.S.V.P. and The Red Hat Ladies Society.

   Irene was graduate of Ottumwa High School and Ottumwa Heights College, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. She was employed at Sears, Roebuck and Company for 27 years as a Secretary and Sales Associate until her retirement.

   Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Dale; three sons, Dr. Stephen Halpin (Joni) of Hannibal, MO, Kevin Halpin (Candace) of Maryland Heights, MO and Craig Halpin (Julie) of O'Fallon, IL; eight grandchildren, Brandon Halpin, Jared Halpin (Kelsee), Jennifer Halpin, Connor Halpin, Cullen Halpin, Carley Halpin, Kristina Hicks (Adam) and Nicole Halpin; and  loving nieces and nephews.

   Mrs Halpin was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Walter LaPoint; and a sister, Virginia Schanz.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Madison Park Christian Church by Pastor Keith Ehresman.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at Madison Park Christian Church and Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the church.

    Arrangements are in the care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.

   Memorials may be made to Madison Park Christian Church.
