   Willard D. Buss, 86, of Quincy, died at 9:58 pm Friday (November 4, 2016) in his home surrounded by his loving family.

   Born March 29, 1930 in Clayton, Illinois,  Willard was the son of  Henry and Daisy Gieker Buss.  He married Geraldine Cramsey on July 3, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2000.

   Mr. Buss served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.

   Willard was a devoted family man who loved the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America as an assitant leader for Troop 9 while his sons were in Scouts. An avid hunter and fisherman, Willard was a member of the North Side Boat Club and the local Bass Club. He also enjoyed trap shooting and cooking, but his passion was woodcarving. Willard was well known for the many perpetual crosses he carved and gave away to friends and family.

   Willard was employed at the International Shoe Factory, Motorola and worked in construction for many years. He was last employed as a painter for St. Mary Hospital in Quincy until his retirement.

   Survivors include four children, Kevin Buss (Pamela) of Quincy,  Mary Thompson (Lindy) of Liberty, IL, Karolyn Buss of Quincy and Kyle Buss of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Tonya Buss of Quincy, Chad Harper of Quincy, Devin Buss (Heather) of Burton, IL, Kraig Buss of Quincy, Tyler Allison of Quincy, Gavin Buss of Quincy and Lindsay Thompson (Ira Huff) of  Phoenix, AZ; eleven great grandchildren, Sierra, Kelsey, Ava, Jordyn, Harper, Mackenzie, Madison, Macey, Declan, Daxton and Hannah; a brother, Albert Buss (Sharon) of Quincy; two sisters, Glendora Dieterle of Camp Point, IL and Barb Pickett (Dave) of Chehalis, WA; many loving nieces and nephews; and his pet dachshund and best friend, Baylee.

   Mr. Buss was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine; and two brothers,  Gilbert Buss and his twin brother in infancy, Eugene Franklin Buss.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Great River Honor Flight..
