KENNETH A. HILL

   Kenneth A. Hill, 86, of Quincy died at 11:13 p.m. Friday (April 7, 2017) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born June 13, 1930 in Quincy, Kenneth was the son of Arthur and Florence Meyer Hill.  He married Ruth L. Arrowsmith on February 1, 1952 in Quincy.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary February 1, 2017.

   Kenneth was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and was a 1948 graduate of Quincy High School.  Kenneth was in the Marine Corps serving his country in the Korean War as a crew chief on jet aircraft.  He was a member of the Southside Boat Club and Twin Oaks Club.  He was also a member and past president of the Lake of the Oaks Missouri Property Association for 14 years.  He was a member and past president of the Quincy Police Benevolent Unit 12 of Quincy and a 30 year member of the Illinois Police Association.  He received the honor of being named officer of the year in 1973 by the Quincy Exchange Club.  He also received a certificate of Appreciation award from the Illinois Department of State Police of Springfield in Recognition of Outstanding contributions and dedicated service in providing many years of service and cooperative assistance to the Department of State Police Bureau of Communications.

   Survivors include his wife Ruth; one son, David A. Hill (Sue) of Quincy; two daughters, Teresa J. Jarrett (William Sr.) of Fowler and Trudy L. Hill of Quincy; six grandchildren, Tim Hill (Susan), Melissa Norton (J. Ryan), William Jarrett Jr. (Alexis), Ronna Schroder, Robbie Hill and Trey Hill; ten great-grandchildren, Gage Schroder, Brendan Schroder, Noah Bryant, Korbyn Hill, Blake Jarrett, Audree Jarrett, Kenny Hill, Lucas Hill, Gwen Norton, Jace Norton and one sister Barbara Merritt (Richard) of Quincy.

   Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Blayne Jarrett, a son-in-law Ronald Hill, one brother Donald Hill and his wife Lil and a brother-in-law Donald Hollenstine.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning 10:00 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Tim White officiating.  Entombment in the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum with the Quincy Police Department Honor Guard and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard conducting services at the cemetery.

   Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy Police Department Honor Guard.
