   Kenneth Hanie Sr., 73, of Quincy, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday (August 2, 2017) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born December 11, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth was the son of Cecil Wade and Veta Viola McLain Hanie Sr.  He was married to Judith Ann Hulsizer.  He later married Carol J. Heins Schwartz on September 25, 1994 in Springfield, Illinois.  She survives.

   Mr. Hanie served his country in the U. S. Navy.

   Kenneth's passion was flying. He earned his pilots license and continued to fly after being discharged from the Navy. He also loved to build and fly model airplanes. Kenneth was an avid hunter and Nascar fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

   Kenneth was employed at Electric Wheel, Shelor Globe and Davis Cleaver before moving to Des Moines, Iowa where he worked for Emco.  He later moved back to Quincy where he was employed as the maintenance manager for Lincoln Douglas Apartments until his retirement.

   Survivors include his wife, Carol; ten children, Phillip Meany of Ewing, MO, Kevin Meany (Sandy) of Maywood, MO, Laura Clow (Mike) of Maywood, MO, Terry Smith (Sue) of Des Moines, IA, Gary Smith (Jessica) of Phoenix, AZ, Toni Foglesong (Gary) of Taylor, MO, Kenneth Hanie Jr. of Maywood, MO, Barbara Hanie (Joseph Leffler) of Clayton, IL, Colt Hanie (Tonya Cleesen)  of Kirksville, MO and Libertie Brantner (Michael) of Kirksville, MO; two step children, James Schwartz of Quincy and Amy Leanne Schwartz of Quincy; many loving granchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Jean Harvey of Perry, IA; a sister in law, Betty Hanie of Surprise, AZ; several nieces and nephews; and his BFF, Maggie Sue.

   Mr. Hanie was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Echo Leanne Welte; a grandson, Danny Charles "Blain" Welte Jr.; and a brother, Cecil Wade Hanie Jr.

   Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home

   The family will host a celebration of life for Kenneth on Sunday afternoon (August 20, 2017) from 2:00 to  5:00 at the big shelter house in South Park. Family and friends are invited to attend.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center.
