  Kathryn Mae "Katie" Hester, 84, of Palmyra, Missouri, formerly of 18th & Seminary Lane, Quincy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 5:30 a.m. Monday (August 7, 2017) in the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Missouri.

   Born September 16, 1932 in Quincy, Kathryn was the daughter of  Elmer R. and Harriett Ida Taylor Clifford Sr.  She married Charles E. Hester on September 23, 1950 in Loraine, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on May 3, 1997.

   Katie was a member of Alpha Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband and close friends and was a member of Goldwings Chapter N.  Katie cherished the time she spent camping and fishing with her family, spending time in Colorado going to drag races, and attending all of her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

   A 1950 graduate of Quincy High School, Katie was employed at Motorola until their closing in 1976. She later was a shuttle bus driver for Quincy University  until her retirement.

   Survivors include two daughters, Marcheta Hays  (Harold) of Palmyra, MO and Marcia Freeman (Rick) of Lakewood, CO; three grandchildren, Jessica Bolton (Todd) of Bowen, IL, Chad Freeman (Tamara) of Haslet, TX and Chuck Freeman (Tracy) of Denver, CO; six great grandchildren, Remington Bolton, Huntington Bolton, Tori Freeman, Dawson Freeman, Kobe Freeman and Trevor Freeman; a step granddaughter, Debbie Logue (Darin) of Hannibal, MO; two step great grandchildren, Jesse Wamsley and Jocelyn Kendrick; and many nieces and nephews.

   Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; a brother, Elmer R. Clifford Jr.; and three sisters in law, Marie Keith ( LaVerne), Marilyn Rollins (John) and Norma Whitehead.
   Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.

   Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday morning from 10:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital or Lamoine Christian Childrens Camp.
