JOHN A. "JACK" ANDERSON

   Mr. John A. "Jack" Anderson, 74, of North Adams Home, Mendon, Illinois, formerly of 510 Willow Drive, Quincy died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday (December 13, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born March 5, 1937 in Quincy, Illinois, Jack was the son of William H. and Agnes E. Hilgenbrink Anderson. He married Mary Jane Neill on April 28, 1962 in Payson, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2000.
  
Jack was a member of St.Peter Church and a 1955 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, square dancing and going to the car race's at Quincy Raceways. He was a "jack of all trades" working on cars and various construction projects. Most of all he enjoyed visiting with his friends and family.

   Jack was a Fire Fighter for the City of Quincy for 22 years, nine of which he served as Deputy Fire Chief, retiring in 1989. He also drove a school bus for 35 years for Quincy Public Schools.

   Survivors include a son, John H. Anderson of St. Louis, MI; two daughters, Joan Masters and DeAnna Klauser and her husband Joseph both of Quincy; five grandchildren, Andrew Klauser of Chesterfield, MO, Casey Anderson and Kayla Anderson both of St. Louis, MI, Julie Aleman of San Antonio, TX and Brittany Masters of Quincy; five great grandchildren; one brother, Robert "Bob" Anderson and his wife Eileen of Quincy and one sister, Marilyn Scheufele of Maquon, WI. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by; his parents; his wife, Mary Jane; a daughter, Jean A. Anderson and a son, Charles "Chuck" Anderson, and a brother, William H. Anderson Jr.

   A Memorial Service will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Stone officating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park at a later date.

   Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.  

   Memorials may be made to the Huntington's Disease of America or to Quincy Notre Dame.
