FLOYD GILBERT POWERS

   Mr. Floyd Powers,78, of Plainville, Illinois, died at 6:05 pm Tuesday (December 20, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born April 16, 1933 in Adams County, Illinois, Floyd was the son of James Lee and Gladys McClain Powers Sr.  He married LaVerne Hanrahan on October 28, 1955 in Quincy. She survives.

   Gilbert was a member of Akers Chapel Church of Christ and the Machinist Local 822. He served his country in the U. S. Army. Gilbert was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   Mr. Powers was employed at Gardner Denver from 1955 until his retirement in 1996.

   Survivors include his wife, LaVerne; three daughters, Laurie Brink of Plainville, IL, Judy Moss of Quincy and Bobbi Powers-Hey (John) of Orlando, FL; two sons, Ron Powers (Carol) of Palatine, IL and Chuck Powers of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Dana Kinsella (Mike) of Austin, TX, Monte Brink (Kristen) of Liberty, IL, Veronica Hartke (Mark) of Algonquin, IL, Kimberly Dobervich (Michael) of Arlington, IL, Kristina Powers (Paul) of Palatine, IL and Jennifer Powers (fiance' Tim Walker) of Scottsdale, AZ; eight great grandchildren, Nico, Carter, Jadelyn, Mekali, Brenna, Payton, Blake and Jett; a brother, Gerald Powers (Cleo) of Payson; a sister, Florean Taylor of Palmyra, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his parents; a great granddaughter, Sophie; a son in law, Jim Brink; and three brothers, Lee, Elmer and Gene.

   Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by Pastor Jeff Heberlein.  Inurnment will be in the Akers Chapel Cemetery near Plainville.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.

   Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
