DONALD R. WAITE

   Mr. Donald R. Waite, 76, of the Illinois Veteran's Home, formerly 1205 Emerald Drive, Quincy, died at 8:07 a.m. Saturday (May 19, 2012) in Blessing  Hospital.

   Born March 19, 1936 in Adams County, Illinois, Donald was the son of Ralph and Edna Rabe Waite. He married Evelyn F. Beernard on May 14, 1960 in West Hampton, New York. She preceded him in death on January 22, 1987.  He was married to Linda Buss, whom he remained close with until his death.

   Donald was a member of several fraternal organizations. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed trapshooting.

   Mr. Waite had a long career in wholesale food sales, working for Thomas Prostler and Hawkeye Foods, covering a three state territory. Donald received many awards and honors for his sales.

   Survivors include a son, Charles E. "Charlie" Waite of Webster Groves, MO; two grandchildren, Olivia Maguire and Kaitlyn Maguire both of St. Louis, MO; three sisters, Pauline Orr (Glenn) of Lima, IL, Virginia Seals of Ewing, MO and Frieda Mulch (Richard) of Sutter, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews, including Carolyn Hussong, who was a caregiveer for Donald in recent years.

   Mr. Waite was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn; a brother in law, Merle Seals; and a nephew, Dewayne Orr.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home by the Rev. John Adams.  Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the All Faiths Chapel at the Veteran's Home.

   Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund

   The Zehender Robison Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Don for many years when he lived at Lampe Hi-Rise. He was friends with my mother. I always looked forward to talking with him, I called him "My Fellow Republican". What a neat guy, I will miss him.
