   Mr. Russell Glen Boyd, 88, of the Bickford Cottage, Quincy, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday (June 12, 2012) in his home.

   Born April 13, 1924 in Quincy, Glen was the son of Matthew and Elva Tourney Boyd. He married Gwendola "Dole" Hoskins on December 20, 1945 in Quincy. She preceded  him in death on October 17, 2005.

   Glen loved flying and flew privately out of Haerr Field in Taylor, Missouri for many years. Devoted to his family, Glen loved spending time with them and the trips he made to Branson with his siblings over the years.  Mr. Boyd served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II.

   Glen was employed as a plumber for Hoskins Plumbing and Heating in Quincy and farmed in the South Bottoms for many years until his retirement.

   Survivors include two daughters, Linda Mock (Jeff) and Dawn Kroner (Roger) both of Quincy; two sons, Gary Boyd (Claire) and Jan Boyd both of Quincy; six grandchildren, Jamie Burnside (Jay) of Spencer, WV, Christy Boyd (Chris) of Quincy, Lindsey Lentz (Mike) of Liberty, IL Nicole Wright (Jason) of Wentzville, MO, Jonathan Pittman (Jessica) of Washington, IL, and Sarah Boyd of Quincy; seven great grandchildren, Garrett Higdon, Nicolas Burnside, Jack Lentz, Isaiah Boyd, Brooklyn Boyd, Mackenzie Wright and Mae Pittman; a brother, William Boyd (Mary Ann) of Tupelo, MS; a sister, Katherine Albright of Quincy; two sisters in law, Cleatis Langan of Clayton, IL and Margie Boyd of Quincy; many loving nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Faye Stice.

   Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Gwendola; a sister, Dorothy Gordy; a brother, Charles Boyd; four brothers in law, Ivan Tritsch, James Langan, Frank Gordy and John Albright; and a sister in law, Emma Lee Boyd.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Jonathan Pittman.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 and Thursday morning until time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

Glen was a very entertaining guy. He always had a story to tell to Bob as they sit under the old pecan tree at the farm. He will be missed. My prayers are with all of you.
