MAX E. ELLERBROCK
Mr. Max Eugene Ellerbrock, 77, of Quincy, went to be with his Lord at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday (August 15, 2012) after a long battle with cancer.
Born August 8, 1935 in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Max was the son of Carl and Twila Greene Ellerbrock. He married Barbara Joann Cookson on June 26, 1954. She survives.
Max loved to travel, primarily on cruises and was a longtime Quincy Blue Devil basketball fan. He was a devoted family man and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Max was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he learned to love his Lord.
A 1953 graduate of Quincy High School, Max was employed as a carpenter and cabinet maker for Huck Fixture in Quincy, retiring after 30 years in 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joann; a daughter, Robin Porter of Edwardsville, IL; a son, Randy Ellerbrock (Beth) of Clayton, IL; two granddaughters, Jamie Gourley (Scott) and Lacey Luitjohan (Matt); two grandsons, Bradley Porter and Spencer Toner; a great grandson, Porter Gourley; a great granddaughter, Payton Gourley; a great grandchild, Baby Luitjohan due the first of September; a brother in law, George "Junior" Cookson (Lori) of Dow, IL; two sisters in law, Mary Ellen Tipton and Nancy Campbell (Denny) both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ellerbrock was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers in law, Robert Tipton and Robert Cookson; and a sister in law, Shirley Cookson.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Martin Eden officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
