LAWRENCE  M.  KINDHART

   Mr. Lawrence M. Kindhart, 93, of Quincy, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (August 23, 2012) in Blessing Hospital following a brief illness after suffering a stroke on August 18, 2012.

   Born September 4, 1918 in Adams County, Illinois, Lawrence was the son of Clyde and Pearl Taylor Kindhart.  He married Ruth I. Armel on August 8, 1945 in Brooklyn, Illinois. She survives.

   Lawrence served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during WW II, serving in the European, African, Middle Eastern Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action in Italy in May, 1944.

   Lawrence was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post 37. He loved woodworking and will be remembered as a handyman, helping many others with projects.

   Mr. Kindhart was employed for 21 years at B.F. Goodrich at 5th and Vermont in Quincy. He retired in 1966 due to health reasons.

   Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruth; a daughter, Marcia Junkerman of McKinney, TX; a daughter in law, Julie Kindhart of Quincy; two grandchildren, Danielle Parker and Tiffany Perez (Luis); three great grandchildren, Madelyn Parker, Aleah Perez and Nathan Meier; a brother, Cecil Kindhart of Mt. Sterling, IL; a sister, Ethel Daggett of Golden, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Kindhart was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Neil Kindhart; three brothers, Troy Kindhart Sr., Virgil Kindhart and Robert Kindhart; and two sisters, Ruby Kindhart and a sister in infancy.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Heart Center.

You have my condolences on your loss. Worked with Neil at E Best, he was such a wonderful guy, I am sure he was just like his father.
