BILL  "SKIP"  ARP

Mr. Bill L. "Skip" Arp, 82, of Payson, Illinois, died at 9:38 a.m. Wednesday (October 3, 2012) in Blessing Hospital.

Born February 8, 1930 in Quincy, Bill was the son of John and Elva Booker Arp.  He married Marjorie M. Schafer on April 3, 1948 in Bluff Hall Church.  She preceded him in death on October 27, 1993.

Bill was an active member of Bluff Hall Evangelical Free Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee and a member of the Bluff Hall Men's Fellowship and was on the Bluff Hall Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Plasterer's and Cement Masons Local 137 where he served as business agent. Bill took an active role in his community, serving as Fall Creek Township Supervisor for many years and served on the Fall Creek Cemetery Board.  He enjoyed playing cards and having cook outs, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.

Bill was employed for many years as a plasterer and cement mason for Local 137, working on many jobs in the West Central Illinois area until his retirement so he could care for his wife.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Kinder (Rodney) and Jane Huber (Greg) both of Payson; four grandchildren, Michael Kinder (Jean) of Payson, Andrew Kinder of Quincy, Ashley Huber of Quincy and Travis Huber of Edwardsville, IL; two great grandchildren, Katherine Kinder and Karly Kinder; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arp was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; a brother, Melvin Arp; and a sister, Dorothy Fisher.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in Bluff Hall Evangelical Free Church by Pastor Scott Allen.  Burial will be in Bluff Hall Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy and Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at Bluff Hall Church..

Memorial may be made to Bluff Hall Evangelical Free Church or the Bluff Hall Cemetery Association.
