RICHARD C. GROVE

   Richard C. Grove, 89, of Sunset Home, formerly of 2007 Van Buren, Quincy, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday (January 23, 2013) in Sunset Home.

   Born September 1, 1923 in Rushville, Illinois, Richard was the son of Darah and Nona Scott Grove. He married Maudie F. Downs on February 21, 1945 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1993.  He married Marilyn Lester Webster on October 22, 1996 in Quincy. She survives.

   Richard was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed working and tinkering with cars.

   Richard was employed as a machine operator at Brower Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring in 1985.

   Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; a son, Richard L. Grove of Quincy ; a step son, Harry Roth (Mary) of Longview, WA; two step daughters, Crystal Schnellbacher (Norman) of New London, MO and Lillian Hendricks of Florida; three grandchildren, Richard C. Grove, Tayler A. Grove (Saiday) and Cameron J. Grove; six step grandchildren, Harry Roth, Raymond Roth, Rickey Roth, Angel Terry (Kenneth), Jennifer Barmore (James) and Michael Schnellbacher (Laura); two great grandchildren, Isabelle Grove and Abiigail Grove; nine step great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kinsey and Kylee Terry, Savannah and Randy Barmore, and Michael Jared, Elayna and Levi Schnellbacher and Dawson Roth; a brother, Robert Grove (Inez) of North Augusta, SC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Mr. Grove was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Maudie.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in First Southern Baptist Church by Pastor Tom Rains.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

    Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at First Southern Baptist Church.

   Memorials may be made to  First Southern Baptist Church.

I enjoyed being Richard's nurse during his years at Sunset. He was a sweet man. I liked the way he would pat my hand, showing that he liked me, too. I will miss him.
