ROSEMARY  L.  SCHALLER

Mrs. Rosemary L. Schaller, 93, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2615 Woodale Ct., Quincy, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday (February 5, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.

Born March 3, 1919 in Peoria, Illinois,  Rosemary was the daughter of William C. and Mary Ann Murray Bryant. She married Paul E. Schaller on July 14, 1946 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1988.

Rosie was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where she was active with the youth groups, Afternoon Guild and a charter member of the Salem Couples Club. An avid reader, Rosie also loved to dance, taking lessons in her youth and later teaching dance to others. She enjoyed helping others and had over 1100 volunteer hours at the Blessing Hospital Information Desk and 23 years at the Good Samaritan Home General Store. Rosie will be fondly remembered for her competitive edge in playing games, cards and seemingly always beating her kids in Ping Pong.

A graduate of Quincy High School and Gem City Business College, Rosie was employed as a secretary at Menke Stone and Lime Company until her children were born and she devoted herself to raising her family. She later went back to work at Woodland Home and then for Dr. Gwaltney for many years until her retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Schaller of Quincy; three sons, Michael Schaller (Rachel) of Marthasville, MO,  David Schaller M.D. (Tibby) of Steamboat Springs, CO and Donald Shriver (Michelyn) of Palm Harbor, FL; and four grandchildren, Michael Gille (Amy), Kartal Stewart, Jesse Schaller and Maxx Schaller; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Schaller was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; a grandson, Justin Schaller; and two brothers, William Bryant and Murray Bryant.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Salem Church.

Judy,
You know how much we loved you mom. Especially when she mis-counted her remaining dominos. We certainly will miss her smile and sence of humor. But we certainly have some wonderful memories.
God Bless, We love you

Mike, Judy and David: So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom - such a wonderful spirit she was. There are few memories of growing up that do not include her and all of you. Whether it was those crazy games of spoons or snatch (or whatever it was called) around your kitchen table or the countless activities, meals, and parties we shared together, I guess I always felt her love and caring as being there for all of us. Her laugh was infectious, her wit amazing, and her heart much larger than herself. I hope all is well with you and your families - Eileen and I will be thinking of you and send our love to you along with our regrets of not being able to be with you.
- David and Eileen
