DONALD  L.  JONES

   Mr. Donald L. Jones, 78, of the North Adams Home, Mendon, Illinois, formerly of 611 Country Club Heights, Quincy, died at 1:11 a.m. Monday (February 25, 2013) in the North Adams Home.

   Born October 7, 1934 in Griggsville, Illinois, Don was the son of Clyde and Kathleen Lucille Goings Jones.  He was married to Betty Avery.  He married Viola Mae "Vi" Webster on December 19, 1964 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2006.

   Don was a member of Twin Oaks Club, Quincy V.F.W. Post 5129, South Side Boat Club and North Side Boat Club. Don loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trap shooter. He loved being with his "gang" going to casinos throughout the area.  Mr. Jones served his country in the U. S. Army from 1957 -1959.

   Don was employed for 35 years at Gardner Denver Company in Quincy, retiring as a Foreman. He then was employed for the City of Quincy Aminal Control, retiring to care for his wife through her illness.

   Survivors include a son, Stephen D. Jones (Barbara) of Quincy; a daughter, Cindy Davies (Scott) of Jim Thorpe, PA; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Jennifer Jones, Steven D. Jones Jr. (Carolyn), Joshua Jones, Jeremy Deeter (Tisha), Nathan Parker, Brock Lehner, Tristin Davies and Skylar Davies; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Esther Hastings of Barrington, KS; two sisters in law, Betty Jones and Eileen Jones; and mny loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vi; five brothers, Jack, Clayton, Gene, William and Kenneth Jones; and three sisters, Nina Powell, Betty Jones and Juanita Durbin.

   Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  Burial with Military Honors  by Quincy American Legion Post 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Twin Oaks Club or Quincy V.F.W. Post 5129.
