ROBERT  N.  WHEELOCK

   Mr. Robert Norman Wheelock, 78, of 4902 Hidden Cove Road, Quincy, died at 8:29 p.m. Thursday (February 28, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born September 23, 1934 in Hannibal, Missouri, Bob was the son of John L. and Helen R. Ruark Wheelock.  He married Myrna Frieden on April 9, 1960 in Quincy. She survives.

   Bob was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Cedar Crest Country Club where he enjoyed golfing.  Bob was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came in following the activities of his children and grandchildren.

   Mr. Wheelock served his country for 20 years in the U. S. Army, serving two tours in Vietnam where he received four Bronze Service Stars.  He retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1973. He later was employed in the Mintrate Department at Moorman Manufacturing Company for 10 years.

   Survivors include his wife, Myrna; four daughters, Becky Williams of Quincy, Danette Koyer of Quincy, Bobbi Roberts (Bryan) of Liberty, IL and Loree Burwinkel (Brian) of Payson, IL; five grandchildren, Cody Koyer (finace', Kara Durcan), Drew Burwinkel, Charles Wheelock, Ciara Wheelock and Christina Daniel (John); five great grandchildren, Kayden Koyer, Bailee Wheelock, Alyssa Daniel, Aubrie Daniel and Joseph Daniel; a brother, John H. Wheelock (Delores) of Hudsonville, MI; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Wheelock was preceded in death by his parents; twin grandsons, Ricky Paul Koyer and Shawn Robert Koyer; and a nephew, Jeff Wheelock.

   Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Rains.  Burial with Military Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday afternoon until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
