Doris A. "Dode" Richmond (Kaiser)

Doris A. "Dode" (Kaiser) Richmond, 95, of Plymouth, Minnesota, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully on May 19, 2013, surrounded by loving family and the most wonderful caregivers.

Born on January 27, 1918, Doris Anna Ameilia Kaiser, a towheaded blond, became "Dode", the youngest of 4 children of Christian A. and Wilhelmine Speckhart Kaiser from Payson, Illinois.  Doris reminisced often of her early years spent on the family farm in Payson - glad that part of it is still in the family.

She graduated from Seymour High School and married the love of her life, Arthur "Jack" Richmond in 1937.  The two of them were inseparable ' except for the war ' living in many different places together.   Starting out in Quincy, Illinois, they lived in St. Louis, Missouri,  Corvalis,Oregon, Pasadena, California, Wichita, Kansas, Omaha, Nebraska, Edina, Minnesota and their last years together - in Bayshore Village in North Fort Myers, Florida.  She spent the last 5 years in Plymouth, Minnesota, near her son,Terry, and his family.  But Quincy was always "home" and Bluff Hall their church.

Besides "mom" and scout leader and member of PEO, a woman's philanthropic organization, Doris held different jobs over the years - the last of which was for Control Data , retiring after 15 years of service.  She was an amazing cook, loved to entertain, and enjoyed traveling , getting to her 50th state - Alaska - at age 93.  She was a bridge player, a good bowler,  an avid Twins fan, and talented in fiber arts - including Swedish weaving.  She loved dancing with Jack and dearly loved spending time with friends and family.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack (2002), her father and mother (1963 & 1984), her 3 siblings:  brothers Harold (1961) and Marion (1996), and sister and best friend, Mary "Sis" Thompson (2012).  She is survived by her only son, her pride and joy, Terry Richmond (Kathryn) of Medina Minnesota; grand children:  Anthony Richmond and Nora Richmond; step-grand children: Allison Cook and Christopher Cook; great grand-children:  Anthony Richmond Jr. and Ta*Riah Henry; and many, many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to mention.     We will all miss her.  Good travels Doris and happy dancing!
