   Mr. Jerry L. Smith, 72, of Quincy died at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday (May 28, 2013) in his home.

   Born January 15, 1941 in Durham, Missouri he was the son of  Jedediah and Ruby Bross Smith.

   Jerry enjoyed gardening, woodworking and trap shooting . He served his country in the United States Navy.

   Mr. Smith was employed as a machinist at Harris Corporation for several years until his retirement.

   Survivors include a son, Joshua Smith of Columbia, MO; a daughter, Angel Smith of Quincy and a sister, Geraldine Smith of Quincy. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tara Smith; a brother, Jimmy Smith and a sister Irene Baskett.

   A memorial service will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in the Embassy Room at Town and Country Inn & Suites. Mr. Smith has donated his body to medical science.

     Memorials may be made to Unity of Quincy.

   The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to Josh, Angel and the rest of Smitty's family. So sorry to hear of his passing. I truly enjoyed having him as a friend and neighbor. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Jerry's family...I am so very sorry for you loss. He was a great neighbor back in the 90's while living N. of Tioga, Illinois...Such a nice guy...
