HARRY  HASTINGS  JR.

   Mr. Harry Hastings Jr., 91, of  the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Missouri, formerly of LaGrange, Missouri, died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday (June 19, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.

    Born April 6, 1922 in Quincy, Harry was the son of Harry and Susanna Railey Hastings Sr. He married Audrey Dean Johnson on March 9, 1946 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2000.

   Harry was a graduate of Quincy High School.  Mr. Hastings served his country in the U. S. Army with the Paratroopers and then with the Military Police. He saw action during WW II in the Rhineland and Central Europe, earning two Bronze Battle Stars.

   Harry was an avid collector, especially WW II books and memoribilia.

   Mr. Hastings was employed at International Shoe Factory, Prairie Farms Dairy and for 25 years at Brower Manufacturing. Harry then worked at Moorman Manufacturing Company for 13 years, retiring in 1984 as a die setter.

   Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Lee "Carol" Dobbs of LaGrange, MO and Vicki Jo Bieri of Joy, IL; two grandchildren, Betsy Lee Sherwood (LeRoy) of Springfield, IL and Todd Travis Bieri of Joy, IL; eight great grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Morgan Smith, Megan Smith, Aurora Sherwood, Mason Bieri, Kathy Bieri, Lewis Bieri and Vicki Bieri; one great great grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey; and a son in law, Tom Dobbs.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko.  Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 and  the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center.
