   Mrs. Celia Ruth Haire, 92, of Sunset Home, formerly of rural Payson, Illinois, died at 12:23 a.m. Friday (August 9, 2013) in Sunset Home.

   Born July 1, 1921 in Mendon, Illinois, Ruth was the daughter of William Harrison and Nancy W. Doyle Rogers. She married Merle T. Haire on February 12, 1966 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1999.

   Ruth enjoyed gardening and sewing and cherished the time she spent with her family at family gatherings.

   A graduate of Mendon Township High School, Ruth was employed as a switchboard operator in Mendon before becoming one of the first employees at Motorola in Quincy, where she worked until her marriage.

  Survivors include a nephew, Robert Rogers (Ginger) of Loraine, IL; three nieces, Nancy Veile (James) of Ursa, IL, Michele Van Blair (Steve) of Fowler, IL and Phyllis Orr of Quincy; and many loving great nieces and great nephews.

  Mrs. Haire was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle; and two brothers, John Ray Rogers and Robert William Rogers (Bernice).

   The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sunset Home for the loving care and support they gave to Ruth and her family during her time there.

   Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Quincy.

   Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.  

   Memorials may be made to Sunset Home Activities Department.

Bob & Ginger,

Though I never met "Aunt Ruthy" as you called her, I came to know a little about her through you. I am sorry for your loss. May she rest in the presence of the Lord as we all hope someday.
