   Mrs. Bess Delk, 93, of Quincy died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday (September 5, 2013) in Sunset Home.

   Born December 18, 1919 in Quincy, she was the daughter of Clarence and Clara Kaiser Featheringill. She married Paul Delk on February 26, 1942 in LaGrange, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1985.

   Bess  was a Quincy High School graduate and was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and The Women's City Club where she loved to play bridge. She enjoyed playing golf,  traveling with her husband and volunteering at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room.

   Mrs. Delk was employed as the Manager in the Personnel Department at Blessing Hospital for several years until her retirement.

   Survivors include four nieces, Diane Boll (Jerry) of Quincy, Barbara Ligon of Peoria, Ann Fern (Jeff) of Grayslake, IL and Beth Gorsich (Tom) of New Berlin, IL; two nephews, Phil Featheringill (Nancy) of Quincy and David Peeler of Springfield, IL; a sister, Marjorie Peeler of Springfield, IL. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.  

   Bess was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Phil Featheringill Sr.; two sisters, Louise McCollum and Virginia "Ginny" Hotchkiss.

   Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Grulke officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Sunset Home or Vermont Street United Methodist Church

I knew Bess through Blessing Hospital. She was such an important part of the hospital for many years. Through her work, she made a positive difference in many lives. She will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Bess at Blessing Hospital years ago. She was quite a lady.

Bess lived across the street from us on Bradmoor Drive. She was a lovely lady, and a good neighbor. Our condolences to her family and friends. May she rest in peace and in the love of our Lord.
