   Warren Wagner, 93, of Quincy died at 11:07 a.m. Friday (September 13, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.

    Born October 12, 1919 in Quincy.  Warren was the son of John Jacob and Myrtle Miller Wagner.  He married Phyllis D. Wilson on May 6, 1946 in Lincoln, NE.  She survives.

   Warren was a member of Luther Memorial Church and a 1937 graduate of Quincy High School.  He was a member of Herman Masonic Lodge Number 39, Quincy Consistory and a fifty five year member of the Quincy High Twelve Club.  Warren was a member of Spring Lake Country Club where he and his wife Phyllis were avid golfers.  They also enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.  Warren served his country as a Tech Sergeant in the HQ 18th Fighter Squadron  during World War II in the Pacific Theater.  He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star and two Bronze Battle Stars.

   Warren worked for Gem City Transfer  in Quincy for several years and was co-owner and secretary-treasurer of Meinhardt Cartage Company with his business partner and brother in-law Quentin Miller.

   Survivors include his wife Phyllis; one son Dr. Gregory Wagner (Deborah) of Foster City, CA two daughters Cheryl Orwig (Mel) of Loveland, CO and Lynda Schrand (Dennis) of Rockford, IL; six grandchildren Brynn Manzella (David) of Loveland, CO, Jessica Morales (Kirk) of Foster City, CA, Jason Wagner (Natalie) of Woodland Hills, CA, Jeffrey Wagner (Patricia) of San Carlos, CA, Nicholas Schrand and Cara Schrand both of Rockford, IL.  Also surviving are nine great grandchildren; one sister Ione Miller of Quincy; a brother in-law Gene Smith of Quincy; two nephews Terry Miller (Rene) of New Orleans, LA, Steven Miller (Elaine) of Waukesha, WI; three nieces Marcia Stratman (Curtis) of Quincy, Toni Black (Mike) of Quincy and Jeri Kenning (Bob) of Evansville, IN.

   Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Nathan Schrand, a brother in-law Quentin Miller and a sister in-law Johnina Smith.

    Memorial services will be held Saturday September 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Metz officiating.  Inurnment with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be held Saturday (September 28, 2013) from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m..  Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39 will conduct masonic services at 9:45.

   Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church or to the Quincy Park Foundation for the Bill Klingler Trail.

Dear Cheri and family,
Warren was a remarkable man and wonderful father. You have all been blessed to have him with you through his golden years. He was always upbeat and joking. I truly enjoyed being with him and your mother, they always inspired me. We will miss him but never forget him.

Cheri - I am so sorry to hear about your father passing. I sure your mom is feeling the loss and wondering "why". Please keep me posted as to how you and your family are doing. My prayers are with you and I do so want to be there for you. I am selling my home and am very busy now.
