Betty Baker-Huggans, 89, of Mesa, AZ formerly of Payson died at 1:40 a.m. Sunday (September 15, 2013) in Mesa, AZ.

Born February 12, 1924 in Adams County, IL, Betty was the daughter of J.G. "Fred" and Blanche Clingingsmith Schnellbecher.  She married William "Bill" F. Baker on June 2, 1945 in Bluff Hall.  He preceded her in death on February 3, 1986.  She then married Carl Huggans on August 16, 1993 in Payson, IL.  He preceded her in death in 1999.

Betty was a member of East Mesa Christian Church and a 1942 graduate of Payson-Seymour High School.   She also belonged to the Payson Friends and Neighbors "Fan" Club.  Betty's gifted talents included, ceramics, stained glass, needlework, upholstering, crotchet and golfing.  People around her could be warmed by her smile or be warmed by the beautiful, afghan blankets she made over the years.  She also knitted caps for the hospital babies and sweater vest's for Guide Post magazine who distributed them all over the world to needy children.  The wonderful glow of her spirit could be seen in her smile, her laugh, her family and her many gifted talents.  She was a shinning example for mothers, grandmothers, aunts and Christians to mold themselves after.  She was a soft hearted woman who would lend a hand, lend an ear, lend a hug and lend advice to anyone that needed it.  Betty was a wonderful wife working side by side with her husband Bill and was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family.

Survivors include one son Randy Baker of Plainville; two daughters, Sherry Beckman ("Bill") of Plainville, IL and Cinda Foley of Mesa, AZ; ; two grandchildren Bill Beckman Jr. of O'Fallon, IL and Tamara Tinnell (Mike) of The Woodlands, TX; six great grandchildren Kyle Beckman, Nicole Beckman, Tiffani Tinnell, Branden Matkin, Caleb Tinnell and Tristan Tinnell; a great great granddaughter Kinlee Beckman.  Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

Dear Randy, Sherry, Linda and Baker family,
We join you in celebrating the wonderful life of your mother. Sadly, the last time we were with Betty was over 10 years ago in Arizona. But the memories of playing golf with her are vivid. We had fun.
Your mother was a first cousin of our mother, Hazel (Loos) whose mother was your grandfather Schnellbecker's sister, Lizzie. In addition, we also remember your dad at high school in Payson and later during his auctioneering.
Best wishes and God's Blessings!
