DAVID  E.  ALDERTON

   Mr. David E. Alderton, 77, of Quincy, died at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday (November 19, 2013) in his home.

   Born May 25, 1936 in Taylor, Missouri, David was the son of David O. and Leila Clow Alderton.  He married Kay DeJaynes Turnbaugh on August 28, 1989 in Palmyra, Missouri.  She survives.

   Dave was an avid racing fan who enjoyed both Nascar and the local track races.

   A 1955 graduate of Ewing High School, Dave was employed as a driver for DOT Foods in Mt. Sterling for 25 years, until his health forced him to retire earlier this year.

   Survivors include his wife, Kay; three daughters, Kathy Wheeler of Lexington, IL, Sherry Sparrow (Ron) of Quincy and Kim McDermott (Roger) of Quincy; four sons, Rusty Alderton of Lexington, IL, Roger Alderton (Carla) of Lexington, IL, Bill Turnbaugh (Chris) of Quincy and Randy Turnbaugh (Dee) of Quincy; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Lyndon Alderton (Susie) of Lewistown, MO; four sisters, Zelma McMullen of Sierra Vista, AZ, Lovina Raleigh (Bill) of Ewing, MO, Carolyn Stice (Kenny) of Canton, MO and Laura Featherlin (Preston) of Lewistown, MO; a sister in law, Ruthie Alderton of Quincy; an Aunt, Virgie Kelley of Ewing, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Alderton was preceded in death by his parents; his step mother, Ruth Alderton; a son, Rick Alderton; and a brother, Charles Alderton.

   Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Unity Point at Home Hospice of Quincy

Our deepest sympathy to Kay and the rest of the family. Dave was a true friend that will be dearly missed. He was a hard working man with the highway in his blood. May he rest in peace, and may the family keep the memories he leaves in their hearts.
