ESTHER J. FRIES

   Mrs. Esther J. Fries, 92, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2523 Dennis Drive, Quincy, died at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday (November 20, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.

   Born September 28, 1921 in Clayton, Illinois, Esther was the daughter of Elmer Lynn and Emma Hogan Frankel.  She married William J. Fries on June 5, 1948 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2007.

   Esther enjoyed dancing, working in her yard and tending her flower garden, and arts and crafts. She especially loved making Christmas crafts for family and friends.

   Esther was employed at Motorola  until their closing and later as a Home Health Aid for many years until her retirement.

   Survivors include a daughter in law, Ruth Alderton of Quincy; four grandchildren, Rick Frankel (Colleen), Debbie Stehl (Steve Seckman), and Lori Frankel all of Quincy and Terry Schreacke (Roger) of Liberty, IL; ten great grandchildren, Jason Frankel (Christy), Rickey Frankel (Heather), Shannon Long (Michael), Adam Stehl, Justin Stehl (Erin), Brandi Seckman, Quentin Frankel, Mandy Frankel, Alex Schreacke and Evan Schreacke; two sisters, Ruth Hogge of Quincy and Shirley Gregory (John) of Bethesda, MD; a sister in law, Mildred Frankel of Quincy; and many loving great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Fries was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a son, DuWayne Frankel; and two brothers, Elmer Lynn Frankel and a brother in infancy.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Chaplain James Riley.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Wings Comfort Care Program at Good Samaritan Home.
