   Mrs. Ruth V. Baucom, 88, of Liberty, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday (December 21, 2013).

   Born April 4, 1925 in Concord Township, Illinois, Ruth was the daughter of Bryan and Ethel Hanke Zeiger. Ruth was baptized and confirmed in Concord Lutheran Church in Clayton, Illinois where she later married Forest E. Baucom on August 25, 1945.   He preceded her in death on June 7, 2012.

    Ruth and Forest resided in the Liberty area for 67 years and raised their family of five children. She was very active in the Liberty community and enjoyed giving to others.  She was employed as a cook for several years in the Liberty Community School District Unit #2 until her retirement.  Ruth was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie. Ruth and her husband Forest were honored as Liberty Fall Celebration Parade Marshals in 2005.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and playing the piano, accordion and the banjo at community dances with her father.  Most of all she dearly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and attending their school events.  

    She is deeply loved and sadly missed by her surviving five children and by her seventeen grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.  Surviving children are a daughter, Vicky Parn (Lyle),  a son, John Baucom (Jane), a daughter, Cheryl Kroencke (Brad),  a son Chuck Baucom (Diane), and a daughter, Beth Ormond (Sam)  all of Liberty;  the grandchildren are Laura Essington (Brad) of Quincy, Steve Parn (Laura) of Foristell, MO, Janette Brinkman (Brian), Jill Knuffman (Clint), John Jr.  Baucom (Kelly), Jessica Baucom, Josh Baucom and his fiancee Kristine Schaller all of Liberty.  Jason Kroencke (Terri Lynn) of Liberty, Mark  Kroencke (Heather) of Lake in the Hills, IL.  Deana Baucom of Las Cruces, NM, Jacob Baucom (Dorian) of Oklahoma City, OK, Thomas Baucom and his fiancee (Amanda) of  Gardendale, TX, and Mona Lara (Dillon) of Columbia, MO, Sarah Young (Rob) of Quincy, Samuel Jr., Shelli and Shane Ormond all of Liberty.  The great grandchildren are Briana and Brady Essington of Quincy, Emma, Logan and baby Parn due in January of Foristell, MO, Isabella and Johnathan Brinkman, Cody, Abigail, Carter and Caden Knuffman, Carson Baucom, Beau Baucom, Rylie Baucom, Avery and Morgan Kroencke all of Liberty,  Brynn Kroencke and baby sister due in June of Lake in the Hills, IL and Donovan and baby Baucom due in July of Oklahoma City, OK, June Lara of Columbia, MO, Chase Young of Quincy and her loving sister Margaret Ideus of Golden, IL.  In addition she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

   Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forest, one brother Robert Zeiger, two sisters Roselma Syrcle and Norma Jean Zeiger, three brothers in law Jim and Richard Baucom and Alvin Ideus.

  Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon (December 23, 2013) at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's  Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie, Camp Point, Illinois by Pastor Ronald F. Graham.  Burial will be at Lost Prairie Cemetery.

   Visitation will be held Monday morning (December 23, 2013) at 10:00 until time of services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie or to the Lost Prairie Church Cemetery Camp Point, Illinois.

We will be praying for peace and comfort during the days ahead. Ruth was such a dear, sweet woman...her smile was contagious and part of her gift for making others feel welcome and loved. So sorry for your loss.
