MARY  ELLEN  BECKMAN  MAXWELL

   Mary Ellen Beckman Maxwell, 91, of the Good Samaritan Home, Quincy, died at 6:20 am Thursday (February 27, 2014) in Good Samaritan Home.

   The oldest of three children to Albert and Hilda Mohrman Dedert, Mary Ellen was born September 11, 1922 and raised on the family farm in Adams County, Illinois.  She attended Center Country School and was a 1940 graduate of Quincy High School. She married Glenn W. Beckman on November 21, 1947 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1983.  She married Kerry H. Maxwell on December 28, 1990 in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on June 11, 2006.

   Mary Ellen loved to travel, traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada and had visited Australia. During the 16 years she was married to Kerry, she enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Mary Ellen loved staying active with her friends, playing Bridge and being a part of the "Meet and Eat" ladies going out for dinners.

   Mary Ellen had been employed with Mercantile Bank, Quincy Society of Fine Arts and then as a Secretary for Dr. Peake until her retirement.

   Survivors include two sons, Gary Beckman (Kathy) of Quincy and Steven Beckman (LuAnn) of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Justine Beckman of Kansas City, KS, Glenn Beckman and Shelby Beckman both of Quincy; a brother, Harvey Dedert (Sally) of Quincy; a sister, Norma Jean Tipton (William) of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; and a daughter in law, Elaine Ann Beckman.

   Cremation rites have been accorded to Mrs. Maxwell. Memorial services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Foose Center of Good Samaritan Home.
