NORMA  J.  MEADO

Mrs. Norma Jane Meado, 73, of Quincy, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday (March 3, 2014) in St. Vincent's Home.

Born August 27, 1940 in Adams County, Illinois, Norma was the daughter of John and Reva Hultz Allensworth. She married William Lozelle Meado  on  November 29, 1963 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1981.

Norma was a member of Rock Church in Quincy.  Her passion for music and love of singing led her to sing  with the Sweet Adeline's Womens Choral Group and also for countless weddings, funerals, women's groups and ministerial meetings in the Quincy area over many years. In her younger years, Norma sang with her sisters, Wanda and Judy and she later recorded her own CD "Melodies from the Heart". Norma was also a member of  the Country Gospel Music Association.  The great joy in Norma's life was her family and she especially loved following the activities of her grandchildren.

Norma had been employed at Weem's Laundry and Tri State Graphic Arts but she is best remembered for her work as the receptionist at Hotel Quincy for many years until her retirement.

Survivors include a son, Pastor Bryan Meado (Linda) of Quincy; a son in law, Jon Milfs (Jennifer) of San Tan Valley, AZ; seven grandchildren, Kiley Meado, Ryan Meado, Haley Meado, Ashlyn Milfs, Brytan Milfs, Cayden Milfs and Devvyn Milfs; two sisters, Wanda Lentz of Quincy and Judy Skinner (Gary) of Davenport, IA; a sister in law, Louise Doane of Perry, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Meado was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; a daughter, Tonya Milfs; and two brothers, John Allensworth and Ron Allensworth; and a brother in law, Matt Lentz.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Gary Hollensteiner and Pastor Dixie Koch.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Rock Church.

To Norma's Family,
How blessed you were to have had Norma in your life. Whenever we would go and see her, she would play the piano and sing for us!! She was so talented; and so loved her Lord.
When she lost her Tanya, she said she didn't care when tne Lord came for her; because she would see Tanya again. How wonderful their reunion must have been Monday afternoon!!
We LOVE you Norma...look for us someday because we will be their too!!!!

To Norma's Family

What a delight she was. Norma was a beautiful, loving, giving person who spread joy wherever she went. She once sang some of my original songs for Quincy Women's Aglow, then again in Hannibal. I couldn't pay her, especcially as much as her her beautiful voice deserved; however, she sang those songs so beautifully. What I enjoyed even more was listening to her sing the many songs that God placed in her heart to share. What a wonderful lady. May God grant you the peace that surpasseth all understanding.
