SHELBA KESTNER

   Shelba Kestner, 73, of Quincy died at 3:50 a.m. Friday (June 13, 2014) in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

   Born February 19, 1941 in Adams County, Illinois she was the daughter of Walter Ray and Dorothy H. Boling Mason. She married George W. Kestner on April 21, 1961 in Kellerville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1996.

   Shelba was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the Challenger  Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and was an assistant 4-H leader when her children were younger. She was blessed with a natural artistic talent and had a passion for painting china, creating hand sewn quilts and beautiful crocheted family heirlooms that  will be treasured by her family and friends for years to come. She also enjoyed reading and especially loved spending time and visiting with her family and friends.

   Mrs. Kestner had been employed as the manager of the loan department at Quincy People Savings and Loan for several years and then as the office manager at Wilson Hardware retiring in 1992 for health reasons.

   Survivors include a son, George D. Kestner of Decatur, IL; a daughter, Lisa Gaughan of Bothell, WA; six grandchildren, Jennifer Walker (Tim), Valerie Gaughan, Lucas Gaughan, Carly Gaughan, Sarah Kestner and George Kestner; two great grandchildren, Jett Walker and Kylie Walker; three brothers, Fredrick Mason (Nancy) and David Mason both of Quincy and Marty Joe Mason of Liberty; three sisters, Karen Howell (Ralph) of Quincy, Marilyn Kennedy (Dwayne) of Liberty and Conda Denton (David) of Fowler. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George and a sister in law, LouAnn Mason.

   Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Manago officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the Blessing Cancer Center.
