DAVID A. POWELL

   David A. Powell, 59, of Quincy died at 8:37 a.m. Saturday (July 5, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born March 24, 1955 in Bellingham, WA, David was the son of Robert T. "Bob" and Marilyn R. Murphy Powell Sr.   David married Elizabeth "Betsy" Plawer on October 18, 1974 in Quincy.

   David was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, going to auctions, going to the boat and bowling. David enjoyed all sports and was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and San Antonio Spurs basketball fan.  He played softball and basketball and had played against the Harlem Globetrotters.

   Mr. Powell was employed as a consignment antique dealer in Quincy for several years.

   Survivors include his parents Robert "Bob" and Marilyn Powell Sr.of Quincy; three daughters Coriann L. Lyssy (Benjamin III) of Quincy; Cassandra C. Powell of Flint, MI and Candice R. Powell (Duane Cotton) of San Antonio, TX.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren Benjamin Lyssy IV, Sean David Lyssy, Riley Patrick Lyssy and Cadence Elizabeth Lyssy all of Quincy; DeLayla Powell, DeAngelo Powell, DeAndre Powell, DeMonte Powell and DJ Powell all of San Antonio, TX; one brother Robert T. "Bob" Powell Jr. (Angela) of West Frankfort, IL; two sisters Lori A. Powell of Quincy and Colleen E. Powell of Bolingbrook, IL.  Also surviving are several loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

   Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

My heart is sad for your loss. I have good memories of time spent with David at the house on 18th Street which will always be special to me.

Bob, Marilyn, Bobby, Lori and Colleen....I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of David. I know all of you miss him terriby already...but I'm certain that he is at peace and you'll see him again. Love you all and am thinking about each of you, Dave's kids and the rest of his family.
