CHARLES  F.  WATKINS

   Mr. Charles F. "Charlie" Watkins, 74, of Quincy, died Friday (November 14, 2014) in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

   Born July 21, 1940 in Ashland, Illinois, Charlie was the son of Francis and Vera Pogue Watkins.  He married Charlet Jeanette Leonard on June 14, 1958 in Hernando, Mississippi.  She survives.

   Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing and bred and showed Arabian horses for many years. He was a member of the Silver Dollar Square Dance Club and was a Past President of Arab Inc. and the Quincy Saddle Club.  Charlie loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by by his special friend, Dallas, Charlie's pet bulldog.

   Mr. Watkins had previously been employed at Packaging Corporation of America, Huck Fixture Company and the LaGrange Foundry. In 1986 Charlie helped to open C & W. Saddle Shop in Quincy which he ran with his son, Chuck.

   Survivors include his wife, Charlet; a daughter, Patty Tanner (Dave) of Ursa, IL; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Watkins and Jeffrey Watkins both of Quincy; four grandchildren, Scott Watkins (Star), Samantha Watkins, Brandon Hoebing and Abbie Tanner; two great grandchildren, Mia and David ; a sister, Karen Stobart (Ken) of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Jack Watkins (Margene) and Gary Watkins (Carol) both of Jacksonville, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents.

   Mr. Watkins was cremated.  Private family memorial services will be held.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Heart and Vascular Center in care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL 62301.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss Charlie greatly. I so enjoyed visiting with him at the Saddle Shop. He was such a kind man!
