RUTH L.  RALEIGH SCARBER

   Ruth L. Raleigh Scarber, 78, of Quincy, died at 8:40 p.m. Friday (November 28, 2014) in Bickford Cottage.
    
   Born September 10, 1936 in Philadelphia, Missouri, Ruth was the daughter of Peerless S. and Jessie Frances Pepper Bevill.  

   Ruth was an accomplished oil painter, painting many works of art for family and friends.  She loved working outdoors in her flower garden and bird watching and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

   Ruth was employed at Motorola and later became a Certified Nurse Assistant. She retired in 2013 from Good Samaritan Home after 25 years.
  
   Ruth was married to Fred Raleigh and to that union came a son, Victor Lee Raleigh (Carrie) of Ewing, MO; a daughter, Anita Melvin (Scott) of Quincy; four grandchildren, Jessica Bliven (Shaun), Jackie Bruns (Nate), Presley Melvin and Bronson Melvin; and seven great grandchildren, Abigail Bliven, Luke Bliven, Paige Bliven, Emily Bliven, Oliver Bruns, Winnie Bruns and Nora Bruns.  Other survivors include, her twin sister, Ruby Neisen of Palmyra, MO; a sister in law, Jeanette Bevill of Salinas, CA; and many loving nieces and nephews.

    Ruth was later married to Jim Scarber who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert Lee Bevill and Eldon Ray Bevill; a brother in law, Don Neisen; and a sister in law, Wanda Bevill.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Brian Stone.  Burial will be in the Philadelphia Cemetery, Philadelphia, Missouri.

   Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or Bickford Cottages.
