   Elizabeth J. "Betty" Higgins, 92, of the Good Samaritan Home, Quincy, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday (December 9, 2014) in Good Samaritan Home.

   Born October 5, 1922 in Quincy, Betty was the daughter of Otis A. and Ruth T. Schlettert Mohn. She married Martin G. Higgins on July 21, 1947 in Hannibal, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on June 1, 1991.

   Betty enjoyed playing Bingo and participating in the activities while she resided at Good Samaritan Home.

   A graduate of Gem City Business College, Betty was employed at Sears for many years. She retired as the Head Cashier in the Accounting Department.

   Survivors include a daughter, Janet A. Pullins of Quincy; a son, Ronald K. Higgins of St. Louis, MO; a daughter in law, Rosemary Higgins of Barrington, IL; a cousin, Phyllis Smith of Ursa, IL; and six nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; a son, Richard G. Higgins; and a granddaughter, Lindsay Elizabeth Higgins.

   Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by Pastor James Riley.

   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.  The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

   Memorials may be made to the ALS Association or the Quincy Humane Society.

Dear Jan, So sorry for the loss of your mom. Ron's mom passed in July of this year too, she was 87. You can feel blessed that you had her for such a long time, and yet it's always hard to lose a mom. Our prayers are with you. Love Mary
