GARRY  W.  PARRISH

   Garry W. Parrish, 74, of Liberty, Illinois, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday (January 3, 2015) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born September 7, 1940 in Knox County, Missouri, Garry was the son of Lloyd and Hazel McKee Parrish. He married Sharon L. Miller on November 23, 1958 in Steffenville, Missouri and they celebrated 56 years of marriage until her death on October 3, 2014.

   Garry was an avid coon hunter, fisherman and mushroom hunter. He was a member of the Muddy River Coon Hunter Association and the McKee Creek Coon Hunters. He and Sharon were also active with the Farmer's Market at Washington Park, having a stand each week for their produce. Garry was devoted to his family and especially loved being a part of his grandchildren's lives. He will be remembered for his entrepenuerial spirit and his wisdom, passing on the many homemade remedies he learned throughout his lifetime.

   Garry farmed in the Knox County, Missouri area and later was employed with the Interstate Livestock Producers Association before he began his career as an officer and detective with the Quincy Police Department for many years.  Following his retirement from the Police Department, Garry and Sharon opened the Adams Trading Post in Liberty, which was known for their Friday Fish Dinners.

   Survivors include; a son, Eric Parrish (Carla Savage) of Beardstown, IL; two daughters, Penny Holtschlag (Joe) of Liberty, IL and Cindy Rees (Randy) of Canton, MO; a son in law, Rick Wiemer of Ft. Meyers, FL; ten grandchildren, Cyele Wiemer, Nicole Parrish (Jesse Bradley), Brianna Morgan, Angela Remington (Zeke), Robert Wesley Holtschlag, Staff Sergeant Joshua Holtschlag USAF, Frank Holtschlag, Lucus Holtschlag, Alexis Beswick and Amanda Beswick (Justin Hawkins); nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Tarry  Parrish of Centralia, MO and Linda K. Jones (Ed) of Atlanta, MO; three sisters in law, Dorothy Parrish of Edina, MO, Charlene Pflum (Carlyn) of Phoenix, AZ and Yvonne Harris (Pee Wee) of Palmyra, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Garry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; a son in infancy, Charles Lucas Parrish; and a daughter, Tammie J. Wiemer; and a brother, Neal Ray Parrish.

   Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor V. Lee Amsler.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Cilla for the care of Robert Wesley Holtschlag.
