   Matthew C. Stormer, 56, of Quincy, died at 10:24 a.m. Saturday (January 24, 2015) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born September 25, 1958 in Quincy, Matthew was the son of Mary E. Bennett Stormer and Aaron C. Stormer.

   Matt was a 1976 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. Following graduation, Matt and his twin brother Mike spent a year in Bremen, Germany as Exchange Students. While studying in Germany, Matt backpacked through Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. Upon his return from Germany, Matt attended the University of Illinois and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Quincy College.

   Matt was an avid reader and had an extensive Library in his home. He enjoyed listening to music and playing guitar.  Matt spent many hours in the past couple of years working on his home, doing his own renovations and restoration.  

   A painter by trade, Matt was the owner and operator of Preservation Painting in Quincy for several years.

   Survivors include his mother, Mary E. Stormer; a brother, Toby Stormer of Quincy; a special Aunt, Joyce (Jack) Stormer Settle of Quincy; an Uncle, Robert Bennett of Quincy; and several cousins.

   Matt was preceded in death by his twin brother, Michael Stormer; maternal grandparents, EK (Benny) and Catherine Bennett; his paternal grandparents, Aaron and Marjorie Stormer; and an Aunt, Carol (Bennett) Dierker.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until the time of services at the funeral home

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

Mary, to have lost one son just a year ago is tragic, but to lose another so quickly is beyond imagination. You have been a loving and supportive mother to your children. Be brave.

Dear Stormer Family, my condolences for the loss of your beloved Matt. My brother , Mike Grady always loved Matt and they certainly enjoyed their adventures in Europe and throughout High School. I am grateful for the wonderful friendship with lasting memories. Mike was always a sweet loving man and he will missed.
