ALLEN J. "A. J."  BRADY

Allen J. "A. J." Brady, 83, of the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died at 12:28 a.m. Sunday (January 25, 2015) at the Illinois Veteran's Home.

Born May 22, 1931 in Chicago, Allen was the son of Joseph and Agnes Wulf Brady. He married Geraldine Fry on February 22, 1958 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2007.

Mr. Brady served his country in the United States Air Force and the U. S. Army for27 years. He served during the Korean War and received the Korean Service medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nation Service Medal and Honorable Service Medal.

Mr. Brady enjoyed horses and photography.

Following his service in the military, Mr. Brady was employed bythe DuPage County School Bus services.

Survivors include a daughter, Jill Gugel (Richard) of Liberty Township, OH; two sons, Casey Brady (Julie) of Plainfield, IL and Roy Brady of Watseka, IL; seven grandchildren, Ronald Gugel, Nicole Petraski, Daniel Gugel, Casey Brady Jr.,  Angelica Garcia, Joseph Brady and Alex Brady; four great grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Brady (Pat) of North Augusta, S.C.; two sisters, Nancy Freda (Clifford) of Stevens Point, WI and Mary Ulbert (Raymond) of Lombard, IL; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

Mr. Brady was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James Brady and his wife Linda.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Monday afternoon (February 2, 2015) at 2:00 in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Allen, I will never forget how much you loved your horses. I also will never forget how much you would always joke with me and give me a hard time when I was younger. We use to always talk about the horses that I had growing up in Downers Grove. Everyone will miss you very much! Until we all meet again. Heaven has gained another Angel. R.I.P. Allen Brady.

I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I regret never meeting him but know he must have been an amazing man to have raised such an amazing daughter. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
