Jayne Ann (Hagerbaumer) Brown, 59, of Quincy, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday (March 7, 2015) in Blessing Hospital.

Born October 10, 1955 in Quincy, Jayne was the daughter of Melvin Burr and Marilyn Kill Hagerbaumer.  She married David R. Brown on November 27, 1974  in Quincy. He survives.

Faith, family and community were all very important to Jayne. She took an active role in her church family, more recently becoming a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church.  To say family was important to her would be an understatement. She devoted her life to raising her family, supporting her husband and children in their activities. Her greatest joy now was spoiling her grandchildren.  Many of her roles in the community were centered with her family as well. Jayne was a member for 25 years of the P.T.A., serving in local and state offices and attending several National Conventions. She volunteered for The District, served on community advisory groups for the Quincy City Council, was active with the Friends of the Performing Arts. Following the loss of her twins, Jayne and Dave were one of the first families involved with S.H.A.R.E. in which Jayne later became a parent helping those parents coming into the group.

Jayne was a homemaker and had part time jobs with Jeanne's Shoppe and Suzy's Unique Boutique.

Survivors include her husband, David; three sons, Travis Brown (Jennifer) of Quincy, Rome Brown of New York, NY and Garris Brown (Bethany) of Quincy; three grandchildren, Cassidy Ann Brown, Andrew David Brown and Jayden Samuel Melvin Brown; and a brother, David Hagerbaumer.

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; infant twins, Ronald Jordan and Ann Marie Brown; two aunts, Wilma Hagerbaumer and Marjorie Baker; and two uncles, Don Baker and Lawrence "Larry" Kill.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Patty Johansen and Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the Friends of the Performing Arts.

I knew Jayne from her particpation and work with the Illinois PTA. She was a hard worker who, when she volunteered to do something, did it without a pause.
She was always cheerful and ready to help. I am sure you all have wonderful memories of her.

Jayne... We met in 9th grade as classmates, with your flaming red hair, infectious smile and, maybe, even braces back then. True to your hair color, you were always "in the mix" in school activities and always a go-getter. Don't know how it happened or why, but you were my first "junior high kiss", during square-dancing class, I think, but nothing ever blossomed or grew out of it. However, over the 40+ years since, we'd remained friends with the juvenile memory of that event, with a smile, and a long-time friendship as classmates... You're a great gal, Jane Hagerbaumer, and I will miss you... Until we meet again.
