    Helen L. Sanborn, 94, of Quincy died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday (May 17, 2015) in St. Vincent's Home.

   Helen was born May 25, 1920 in Liberty, IL, the daughter of Nelson and Selma Pothast Haskins. Helen was first married to Kenneth French and then on April 1, 1976, she married Lowell E. Sanborn in Santa Anna, California.  He preceded her in death on September 1, 2001.  

   Helen graduated from Payson-Seymour High School with the class of 1939.  She was a member of the Illinois Council of the Blind and the Quincy District Association of the Blind.  She especially loved family gatherings and visiting and playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

   While living in Quincy, Helen was employed at Harris Corporation, Collins Radio, and as a Home Health Aide.  Helen was also employed as a Home Health Aide in California and as a hostess for Custom Built Homes in Arizona.  

   Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Reed (Dan) of Quincy, IL; a son, Gregg Metzger (Jackie) of North Liberty, IA; 8 grandchildren, Susan O'Conner (Matt) of Springfield, IL, Rebecca Miller (Rick) of Lake Elsinore, CA, Robert Reed (Angela) of Prairie Village, KS, Scott Reed (Laura) of Edwardsville, IL, Patrick Reed (Becky) of O'Fallon, MO, Eric Metzger (Pamela) of Kenosha, WI, Justin Metzger (Ayame) of Milwaukee, WI, and Jordan Metzger (Angela) of North Liberty, IA; 13 great grandchildren, Payton Metzger, Parker Metzger, Emmett Metzger, Haleigh O'Conner, Ethan O'Conner, Evan Reed, Paige Reed, Autumn Reed, Ashton Reed, Ella Reed, Anna Reed, Michael Miller, and Amanda Miller;  a sister, Doris Swanson of Orange, CA. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.    

   Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lowell; two brothers, Bruce Haskins and William Haskins; and a sister, Barbara Welbourn.  

   Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Greenmount Cemetery with Pastor Paul Fraser officiating.  

   Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or to The Assisted Living Facility at St. Vincent's Home.

   Arrangements were handled by the Zehender Robionson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
