JEAN L. TOMPKINS

   Jean Tompkins, 91, of  the Good Samaritan Home died  Saturday (May 23, 2015) in Good Samaritan Home.

    Jean was born February 19, 1924 in Lewistown, MO, the daughter of Glenn M. and  Dessie L. Humphrey Brace .  She married James M. Tompkins on May 17, 1947 in Canton, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on September 11, 2006. Jean graduated from Lewistown High School in 1942 and then attended the Kirksville State Teachers College.

   Jean was a member of  Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the AWANA Club and Bible studies. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Club in Quincy. She was a wonderful mother who was devoted to her family.  She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and spending time with good friends and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Sullivan (Tim) of Galesburg, IL and Susan Bordewick (Rick) of Decatur, IL; six grandchildren, Cindy Sullivan of Galesburg, IL, Alan Sullivan (Lisa) of Paducah, KY, Corey Sullivan (Michelina) of Quincy, IL, Ryan Bordewick (Amanda) of Downers Grove, IL, Sarah Bordewick of Carmi, IL and Taylor Bordewick of Decatur, IL; four great grandchildren, Connor Day, Chloe Day, C.J. Sullivan, and Logan Sullivan; and several loving nieces and nephews.  

   Mrs. Tompkins was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and a brother Wendell Brace.

   Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

  Services will be held on Tuesday (May 26, 2015) at 1:00 pm in  the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Manago Officiating.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

  Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Home or Calvary Baptist Church.
