JAMES SHACKLEFORD JR.

   James Shackleford, 69, San Juan, Texas, formerly of Quincy, died Monday (August 31, 2015) at his home.

   Born September 26, 1945 in Quincy, Jim was the son of James S. and Eileen Bener Shackleford.  He married Linda Doll on April 10, 1999 in Edwards, Missouri.  She survives.

   Jim served his country in the U. S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

   Jim loved his Lord and church. He was a member Colony Baptist Church in Edwards, Missouri, serving as a Deacon for many years.

   Jim was employed over the road owner/operator for many years until his retirement.

   Survivors include his wife, Linda Doll Shackleford of San Juan; a son, Kurt Shackleford of Ft. Smith, AR; four step-children, Debbie Swanstone, Ray Bashford, both of Gallatin, MO, Randy Bashford of Ft. Worth, TX and Donna Bashford of Branson, MO; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Becky Vogel (Charlie) of Quincy, IL.

   Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Kent Shackleford.

   Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the Higginsville, Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.  

   A celebration of life will be held Saturday (September 26, 2015) at 10:00 a.m. in the Colony Baptist Church in Edwards, Missouri.

   Memorials are requested to the Veterans War Memorial of Texas in care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL 62301
