   Dale M. Reckers, 70, of Quincy, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday (October 17, 2015) in his home.

   Born August 21, 1945 in Quincy, Dale was the son of Milton C. "Cap" and Darlene R. Rhea Reckers.  

   Mr. Reckers served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.

   Dale had been a member of the Camp Point United Methodist Church and the Machinist Lodge 822 in Quincy.  An avid sportsman, Dale loved baseball, rooting for the Yankees and Cubs, NCAA Basketball and fast pitch softball.  Dale loved playing cards and was an accomplished Euchre player who enjoyed playing in various tournaments over the years.

   Dale was employed at Litteral Manufacturing from 1964 until their closing in 1988. He then worked at the Quincy Park District and later for Dura Manufacturing from 1993 until his retirement in 2007.

   Survivors include his sister, Doris Schieferdecker (Joe) of Quincy; a nephew, Tim Schieferdecker (Jennifer Winking) of Quincy; a niece, Kelly Beckman (Aaron) of Olathe, KS; two great nephews, Wade Schieferdecker and Jack Schieferdecker both of Quincy; and many cousins.

   Dale was preceded in death by his parents.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy by Pastor Annelle Ruemmler.  Burial with Military Honors  by the Payson V.F.W. Post 2061 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be in Sunset Cemetery in Quincy.

   Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Payson V.F.W. Post 2061.

I so hated to hear Dale had passed away, he was a good friend and treated the boys like he was related, I can hear him now "how 'bout them Cubbies"..
I hope you will remember the wonderful memories as I always will. God help you get past this loss but God is happy to have Dale as an angel and keep him in His care.
