John "Jack" Mohrman, 91, of Quincy, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday (November 2, 2015) in his home.

Born October 7, 1924 in Quincy, Jack was the son of Wilbur and Florence Meise Mohrman.  He married Eva Funk on April 2, 1948 in Ottawa, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on September 13, 1977.  He married Judith "Judi" Niekamp Ervin on February 14, 1985 in Quincy. She survives.

He was also a member of the Quincy Fraternal Order of Elks where he served as President for three consecutive years, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge No. 100, Professional Firefighters of Illinois, the Fire Chief Professional Firefighters and the Retired Firefighters of Quincy.  He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed teasing Judi about her Cubs always losing.

Jack grew up on a family farm well known for raising strawberries. During the strawberry season, Jack was designated as the driver who picked up the workers throughout the area in a large open bed truck and took them to the farm to pick the berries.

In 1954, Jack began his career as a Firefighter with Tri-Township Fire Department, retiring as Fire Chief after 39 years of service.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 30 years, Judi; a daughter, Carol Manassah (Elias) of Quincy; two sons, Gary Mohrman (Jim Peters) of Lawrence, KS and Eric Ervin (Mary-Ann) of Quincy; four grandchildren, Evanne Manassah Mast (Jerry), Alisa Manassah Sanders (Jeremy), Brendan Ervin (Fiance', Kayla Newton) and Maddison Ervin of Quincy; four great grandchildren, Jack Sanders, Tommy Sanders, Jordyn Mast and Blane Mast; two brothers, Robert Mohrman (Shirley) of Smithton, IL and Donald Mohrman (Jean) of Ft. Wayne, IN; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eva; a sister, Ruth Royalty (Charles); and two brothers, Harold Mohrman (Joyce) and Glenn Mohrman (Dolly).

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jan Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
