KATHERINE  KOENIG

   Katherine J. Koenig, 92, of Quincy, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday (November 25, 2015) in her home.

   Born November 24, 1923 in Auxvasse, Missouri, Katherine was the daughter of David and Dollie Barker Saylor.  She married Albert W. Koenig on February 16, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on August 12, 2000.

   Katherine was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading and embroidery. Family was most important to Katherine. She devoted her life to them and especially loved the time she spent with them.

   Katherine had been employed at Motorola and St. Mary Hospital. She later became a care provider at the Quincy Senior Center for several years. She retired in 2010 at the age of 87.

   Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Watson of Quincy; a son, Joseph Schalk (Cathy) of Bolingbrook, IL; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; twenty three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Dolly Powers of Quincy and Mildred Smith of LaPeer, MI; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; a daughter, Barbara Wisniewski; a granddaughter, Sheri Gibson; two sisters, Lucille Simpson and Leola Burmeyer; and four brothers, Ralph, William, Cecil and Herbert Saylor.

   Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in Greenmount Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Eden officiating.

   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

Grandma,
I will try not to be sad because I know you are with your heavenly father, Grandpa, Mom and Sheri. I already miss you dearly and when the time comes I know I will see you again. I love you with all my heart.
