PAUL E. TAYLOR

   Paul E. Taylor, 82, of Quincy, died at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday (January 6, 2016) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born June 11, 1933 in Quincy, Paul was the son of John and Gertrude Hill Taylor.  For the last 30 years, Paul has shared his life with his companion, Joyce Riggs.

   Mr. Taylor served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

   Paul enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and on his home. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, watching Western movies and football on TV.

   A graduate of Quincy High School, Paul began his career at Gardner Denver Company in 1953 where he worked for 42 years, retiring as the Head Electrician in 1995.

   Survivors include his companion, Joyce Riggs; two daughters, Tammy Schwartz (Danny) of Quincy and Linda Taylor-Vahle of Independence, MO; a son, Jim Taylor (Susie) of Olney, IL; a step daughter, Penny Swanson (Tim) of Quincy; three step sons, Marty Riggs (Kelli), Scott Riggs (Sarah) and Michael Riggs (Becky) all of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Potts (Brian), R. T. Mewes (Kristen), Justin Mewes (Fiance', Lucy Cramsey), Joshua Vahle, Jeremiah Vahle (April), Jennifer Taylor (Joshua Havens),  Abbey Taylor and Ryan Taylor; ten step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Powell and Lana Krigbaum both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Marla Jean Taylor in infancy and Kelley Taylor; two step sons, Timothy Riggs and Randy Riggs; a step grandson, Timothy Scott Riggs; three brothers, Bob Taylor, John Taylor and Bill Taylor; and a sister, Carolyn Dickerson.

   Graveside services with Military Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by Pastor Robert Cook.

   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.  The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

   Memorials may be made to the  Blessing Hospital Community Outreach Clinic.

To the entire family of Paul Taylor, so sorry for the loss of Paul. He was a very nice man. I am glad I knew him.
