WILMA "SHORTY" McWANE

  Wilma J. "Shorty" McWane, 91, of Quincy, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday (January 24, 2016) at Sunset Home.

   Born August 2, 1924 in Adams County, Illinois, Wilma was the daughter of Johnny Harold and Lillian Ruby Jones Chapman.  She married Thomas "T. J." McWane on August 14, 1948 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on August 7, 1991.

   Wilma was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Quincy,  Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary where she loved socializing and going to dances. She enjoyed taking walks, doing her nails, going to the boat and will be remembered for her caring nature, helping and looking after her neighbors and friends.  

   Wilma was employed at International Shoe Factory from 1948 until 1963 when she began working at Apex Coil in Quincy until 1967.  In 1969 she began work as a Nurse's Assistant at the Illinois Veteran's Home until her retirement in 1986.

   Survivors include  two sisters-in-law, Betty Chapman of Quincy and Greta Chapman of Mt. Sterling, IL; a brother-in-law, Delbert Trogdon of Oconee, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.  

   Wilma was preceded in death her parents; her husband, T. J. McWane; a son, Edward McWane; three brothers, Evan Chapman, John Chapman, and Raymond Chapman; and seven sisters, Regina Chapman, Ada Rowsey, Wanda Bohen, Juanita Patten, Phyllis Rowsey, Veda Thornton, Virginia Trogdon and Sandy Allen.  

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy by Pastor Steve Disseler. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy American Legion Auxiliary.
