   Carolyn Sue Tournear, 71, of Quincy, died at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday (January 26, 2016) in her home.

   Born December 9, 1944 in Burlington, Iowa, Carolyn was the daughter of Champ C. and Sara E. Schultz Pealer.  She married Maurice Tournear on December 11, 1982 in Camp Point, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on April 15, 2007.

   Carolyn was a member of the Columbus United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed traveling, reading and loved her work as a sales representative, but her family always came first. Carolyn loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   A 1963 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1964 graduate of the Burlington Beauty Academy, Carolyn also became a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked for various nursing homes for many years.  She later became a sales representative and supervisor for Amateur Sports Promotions until her retirement.

   Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Smith Speirs of Quincy and Sara Smith Forrest (David) of Quincy; four grandchildren, Brandy Friday, Henry Speirs II (Marlayna), Todd Forrest and Alex Forrest; six great grandchildren, Cortez Franklin Jr., DaLenee Sue Ann Friday, Henry Speirs III, Josiah Speirs, Dale Brooks III and Dalayna Brooks; two brothers, David Pealer (Nelda) of Pella, IA and Charles Pealer (Connie) of Paris, CA; two sisters in law, Pam Pealer of New London, IA and Deanna Pealer of Denmark, IA; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice; two sons, Melvin Smith Jr. and Russell Smith; three brothers, Allen Pealer, Pat Pealer and Robert Pealer; and a sister in law, Pam Pealer.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Sherri Renner.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point, Illinois.

   Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.

So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed visiting with her when she called the church about advertising for the Central Adams Fire Dept. calendar. I was shocked to learn of her passing. Prayers for you all during this difficult time!
